Hot Tubs For Health and Fun

October 27th, 2009 Posted in Home, Sports Tags: , ,

Purchasing and installing a hot tub in your own backyard can be an extremely exciting and fun. Meanwhile, with so many options available and so many different functions and reasons for their purchase it can also be somewhat confusing and possibly even stressful for the consumer. This is particularly disturbing when given that one of the primary purposes of a hot tub is to reduce stress and offer relaxation. This is why great companies such as choosehottubsdirect.com are focused on guiding the customer through the purchasing process as well as to ensure a quality product.

With such a diverse amount of lifestyle perspectives it makes sense that the intended function of a personal hot tub will also be diverse. For this reason it is highly recommended that before making your purchase you make list of priorities for how you wish to use your tub. This is frequently taken into consideration with the overall design of a backyard. Some people are extremely health oriented and wish to create a therapeutic environment. Flowers can be planted around the hot tub area to assist in establishing an aromatherapy atmosphere and often there will be designated yoga and tai chi spaces near by. Instead of an outdoor barbeque, they may have a tea station with a mediation rug and soft outdoor furniture.

Of course there are also those families that have the strong intention of using their hot tubs for entertainment purposes and want to transform their backyard into a party zone. Barbeques and or elaborate backyard kitchens and bars are often included with these plans as are small golf putting yards or croquet games. Volley ball and sometimes even a dance floor help to complete this theme. Meanwhile, for the consumer that isn’t looking to completely redesign their backyard landscape and simply wants to add a hot tub, this is not intended to add work to their purchase. It is also possible and common to choose a hut tub and simply add it to the already existing yard features. Whatever the reason for a hot tub purchase, it should be fun and provide a product that will bring years of joy.

Polish in Delhi

October 26th, 2009 Posted in Travel Tags: , ,

Travel to India is always a fascinating and wonderful thing, and spending time in Delhi can be one of the most delightful and exciting times in your life.  It’s a magnificent place to eat many different varieties of Indian food, see a performance of art forms that have been passed down from generation to generation, and to find glorious accommodations in an excellent five star hotel.  Delhi offers a wide array of lodging accommodations, to suit every traveler who passes through here, from the most basic rooms for the backpacking cultures, to the most splendid in luxury housing.  Our hotels are selected for their excellent track records, offering fantastic amenities to refresh the body, mind, and spirit.

Refreshed is an excellent way to see Delhi.  It is enormously complex, beautiful and baffling all at once, and offers amazing new adventures for travelers.  There are always plenty of attractions in Delhi, from the temples to the shopping malls, and something that will surely attract the attention of visitors of any age.  There are also magnificent performance traditions here, ranging from traditional variations on old art forms, to extremely contemporary new approaches to existing styles and techniques.  There is also a great porosity here between cultures, both within and outside of India.  This is especially true in the eclectic and fascinating life of theater-maker Khalid Tyabji.

He began his work in theatre at the University of Delhi, and had a good career as Administrative Director, but there was something in the Grotowski workshops that caught his attention and haunted him enough to leave his post, and travel around central India, giving workshops and working with Indian aboriginals in forms of theatre/communication without text.  This became the basis for a one-man show, General Tomfoolery, which he performed around the world.  The Polish connection never left him, and Tyabji travels back and forth to collaborate with Jolanta Cynkutis, developing new projects and working on translations of the writings of her dead husband, the great theatre director Zbigniew Cynkutis.  As if that weren’t enough, he has also appeared in several films, including Mira Nair’s Kama Sutra.  And the story continues to unfold, like a performance piece in the middle of the Polish forest.

Family Visits Dali Museum While Visiting Costa Brava

October 19th, 2009 Posted in Travel Tags: ,

One of the things I’ve found to be odd, or rather unexpected as I’ve reached the second half of my twenties is that the nature of vacations didn’t work out the way I anticipated as I made my early life transitions. When I was a child we took our vacations together as a family, as many people do. This continued into high school when I was allowed to go to Greece with my best friend’s family and my parents and my younger brother and sister went to St. Thomas Island in the Caribbean that year. It was fun and a turning point, though I have to admit I did miss my family a bit.

Finally, when I turned eighteen and hit college, I felt I was on my own and couldn’t wait to take a Spring Break trip with some of my friends. We did of course, and had a great time in Cabo San Lucas. In fact, it was so great that parts of it I can’t even remember. That was probably the highlight of the trips I took with friends during my college years. After I finished college and tried to settle into a career, I have taken a couple of short trips, more like getaways, with friends. And ironically, after all of these years I have come to the conclusion that I had the best vacations with my family.

There’s a possibility that this is largely due to the places we visited. But I think there’s something special and nostalgic about that time too. And everyone knows nostalgia trumps the present time any day. For instance, one year we went to Spain and stayed in the most incredible Costa Brava hotel. We spent a lot of time on the beach and went swimming almost every day. I remember a lot of other people there and I think most of them were on vacation too. This actually made it more fun and we met people from all over the world that year. We had great food at the local restaurants. And we went to some of the smaller towns that had a different and more traditional feel than the coastal resorts. We also visited the Dali Museum and I remember being somewhat disturbed but mostly impressed with his work. I’m still a huge Salvador Dali fan to this day. And I’m also a strong supporter of family vacations.

Zoleka Helesi: South African Actress

South Africa is one of the world’s great treasures.  Considered by many to be the mother country for the world, South Africa is rich in natural settings, gorgeous beaches, and lots of wild areas.  The urban centers are some of the most lively in the world, with a fantastically rich sophistication that comes from living in a place where so many cultures intersect.  South Africa has a complicated and fascinating history, and a great place to learn about the lessons of the past first hand.  It is also a magnificent place to relax, come back to your senses, and enjoy lazy days in luxury hotels.  South Africa certainly has something for everyone.

There are terrific cultural offerings here all throughout the year.  Street fairs and festivals are great places to see cultural performances demonstrating some of the best talents in the country.  There is also a stunning theatre scene here, and is one of the richest traditions for live performance anywhere.  Classical and contemporary plays can be seen in every large city, and local talents have won some of the most prestigious prizes in the world.  One of the most active performers these days is Zoleka Helesi.  She’s been doing fantastic work with the Community Arts Project, a Cape Town based initiative to teach skills in visual and performing arts to underserved communities, to open up horizons for career opportunities.

This would be enough for most people, but she is also the winner of the Naledi Theatre Award for best actress in a supporting role for her work in Karoo Moose, a presentation by the Baxter Theatre that examines violence within the family using magical realist themes and techniques.  The Naledi Awards have been in existence for 7 years now, and are considered one of the premiere, and certainly one of the most transparent, awards for the performing arts in South Africa.  Zoleka Helesi’s work is a reflection of the fantastic performance tradition here, and her fascinating background, with her difficult and important day job, gives a wonderful relief for an already dynamic life story.

Falling in Love at Barcelona Opera

October 14th, 2009 Posted in Travel Tags: , ,

This is my second year of college and I am a music major and am going to graduate with a performance degree in clarinet. I play for the university orchestra and also in one of its small wind and wood group. I love the clarinet and have played it since I was seven. I really hope that I’m good enough to be able to have a career in an orchestra, or maybe even get into virtuoso solo playing. Of course that sounds a bit grandiose, but one can always dream, and I always do.

Last semester our orchestra won a place in a college orchestra competition and we were invited to Barcelona, Spain to play in the finals. It so exciting, on all levels. Plus I had enormous crush on one of the violinists and couldn’t wait for the chance to spend some time with her in Barcelona. Unfortunately for me she had been designated as the concertmaster last semester and I was afraid that might have sent her ego through the rough. I mean, violinists are already the self appointed prima donnas of the orchestra, so this really had to go to her head, precious and pretty as it is.

Barcelona was incredible. The city is beautiful and would have been a great trip even without the competition concert and the presence of my crush, Jenny. Luckily for me, I am old enough to go to the clubs and really had a great time one night with the flute players. Best of all though, I was able to get tickets for a production of Verdi’s Aida at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and mentioned to Jenny that I happened to have them and asked if she’d be interested in going. Well, I knew that was a sure thing because she loves that opera. Sure enough, she accepted and I can’t describe how beautiful she, the opera and the theatre were. And the best part, she initiated a kiss when we were saying goodnight at the Barcelona Spain hotel.

Unique Offerings of the Balearic Islands

October 14th, 2009 Posted in Travel Tags: , ,

The Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea are thriving in tourist appeal and draw. The beautiful Spanish islands have been the historic paradise of choice for the Spanish Royal family and many others. However, in recent decades they have become major attractions in the world’s eye and growing numbers of tourists visit them each year. This has affected the financial industry of the islands and tourism now accounts for a major portion of their gross incomes.

There are four major islands in the Balearic collection. Mallorca is the largest and most heavily populated of them. Its capital city is Palma and thousands of visitors arrive to its airport every summer. However, as with the other islands, the summer is not the only season that is great for visiting. Many people prefer the fall and winter, or even spring as these seasons are usually quieter and there is more room in the 5 star hotels Balearics.

The second largest island of the four is Minorca, and it is known for its pristine beaches and peaceful atmosphere. There are excellent opportunities to visit historic ruins and also incredible landmarks. This is a great island for a quiet and culture filled getaway. Ibiza is the third largest of the four main islands and is internationally known for its club and nightlife scene. The two main towns on the island San Antonio and Ibiza Town have numerous nightclubs that attract patrons and party goers from all over the world. Ibiza even attracts a growing number of celebrities, including Kate Moss. Formentera is the smallest of these islands and is truly an amazing paradise. The beaches are clear with sparkling shores and white sands. It is accessed by ferry and it is common for vacations on Ibiza to spend a day or two on the beautiful shores of Formentera.

Basic Grilled Steak

October 13th, 2009 Posted in Food & Beverage Tags: ,

The appeal of an outdoor kitchen never gets old.  There is always more to learn, and it always seems like magic when your experiments with cooking styles and flavors work like you never expected.  When you start to work with our fire magic grills, you’ll understand the appeal.  It does awaken something almost primal, when the combination of fresh air and meat cooking over a flame starts to hit your senses, and everyone in the neighborhood will be catching a whiff at what’s going on in your backyard.  There’s no limit to what you can do.

You’ll enjoy experimenting with different taste combinations, and the flavor is always so different when it’s fresh that even the near misses will seem like hits.  Learning is certainly part of the fun, but the tried and true methods are also very lovely.  There’s nothing like a grilled steak.  It’s a comfort food that’s been a main staple for many generations.  As a sign of success, or a simple reward at the end of a long day’s work, a steak that’s perfectly grilled can do wonders for a person’s attitude.

The grilled steak, at its most basic level, is simply cooked for a few minutes on each side, with a bit of redness still in the center of the meat, so the juices can help bring the flavor of the meat right to your taste buds.  A little practice at grilling techniques can help you to achieve that perfect criss-cross pattern that is the signature of every connoisseur.  Be creative in your choice of side dishes, and keep in mind that potatoes wrapped in foil and grilled can add that extra touch of splendor, for the perfect meat and potatoes meal.  Corn and tomatoes are also fantastic accompaniments, and of course, you can certainly marinate the meat, but it can stand all on its own, and is an easy way to make a day special.

Arrangements in Chennai

I walked to this small, old shopping arcade not to far from a hotel Chennai India where I was staying . I don’t remember the district, but it was old and was in what used to be the central part of Chennai before the city began to burst forth. I saw tons of bicycle rickshaws and noticed that the rents were high here due to being centrally located. I also noticed there were many people sleeping on the street, even the bicycle rickshaw drivers sleep in the cab part. The auto rickshaw drivers sleep in their vehicles.

The reason I was here is because I was to meet my friend’s family, including his newborn baby. She was a happy baby, always smiling. Watching her made me ache for my son, John, both as he was and as he is now. My friend invited me for lunch and I ate some very simple food and talked with his wife. She’s a professor, like my husband and is planning to work in Australia early next year.

My friend explained how arranged marriages work. There’s usually a go-between and often it’s a family member or a friend of the family who becomes the go-between. They can also hire a company to help out too. Mostly, you end up marrying someone in your own caste. He told me love marriages are rare, but are on the increase. I’ve known two friends here who got married for love rather than family pressure. I really can’t say which system is better, but I most definitely lean towards the love aspect. My friend asked me if it is better to have someone pick your mate based on a long-tested formula? Or, should we leave everything up to chance and try to meet that right person, never knowing for certain if we’ve made the right choice? I told him, no matter what, love is a big chance.

Customer Service at a Symphony

October 1st, 2009 Posted in Business Tags: , ,

Attending a symphony concert can be a great event for a classical music lover. And if all goes well, any given audience member is unlikely to consider whether or not they are satisfied with the customer service they received. This is an important distinction to make, and businessmen such as Steven Barbarich understand that sometimes providing the highest level of customer service means that the client will likely be unaware that it has happened. This is because they are more strongly focused on the great purchase they have just made or in the case of the symphony, they are imagining the intricate bowings of the virtuoso violinist they have just seen and heard.

Symphonies can be extremely satisfying and engaging events to attend, however, when there is an issue with tickets, information and even hosting assistance, the pleasure can be easily mitigated into frustration and sometimes even anger at the company or venue. This why it is important for a venue housing establishment to realize that the overall experience of a symphony, or other concert or performance includes more than dressing up and listening to great classical music.

The box office itself is a major service provider and organization and people skills are an important part of the job. Many people have a lot of questions regarding the seats they are purchasing, and when they are demonstrating a concern with this it is important to make sure they know exactly where they will be. In addition, patrons can have many questions while they are at the venue, particularly if it is a large multi-purpose facility and they have never been there before. Proper guidance to restrooms and other public services is essential. A staff person is really demonstrating excellent customer service when they suggest local restaurants and other events and attracts that are occurring in the area.
