People are walking 10 percent more quickly than a decade ago. Thousands of pedestrians were secretly timed in city centers and Singapore’s residents were found to be the most swift. Some were clocked as being the quickest when leaving at lunch time from a Singapore private bank and walking to a restaurant about a mile away. Copenhagen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copenhagen) and Madrid follow the Singaporeans as being swift walkers. However, the research found that walking faster did not necessarily mean people are getting healthier, take for example those Singaporeans leaving the bank for the restaurant, they were also noted for eating a high-cholesterol lunch and eating just as fast as they walked.

These walking results provided a significant insight into the physical and social health of a city. At one level, walking quickly is a very good thing, but only if it’s a way of life. If you are walking simply to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible, then it goes with a whole load of other behaviours that are not quite so good for you. As people speed, it’s not the stress, it’s the result of not eating properly, exercising or seeing friends or family. It can lead to all kinds of things, like heart disease or heart attacks.

A fast pace of life was found to be driven to some extent by all our new and latest technology. Communications are getting faster and faster. We are constantly in touch with each other and getting back to people as quickly as we can and that’s minutes, not hours. That’s making us think that everything has to happen now. Singapore showed a 30 percent increase, making it the most frenetic city in the study. So, Singaporeans, who walk fast to all their appointment and any of their other many activities, might just be surprised to find out at their next doctors appointment that they have high blood pressure or the beginnings of heart disease.

Much of the information concerning drug and alcohol addiction center upon the before and during processes of recovering from addiction. But when a person leaves rehab, it is just as important to continue to stay informed about the topic of addiction. Relapses can happen easily if not watched for carefully by the friends and loved ones an addict who has just left residential drug treatment.
Meetings and appointments will still remain a large part of a newly sobered person. In fact, most of their energy and time will probably stay centered on being cleaning. As such, friends and family might start to feel like they are a less important person in a recovering addict’s life. However, they must understand this is a false assumption even though their feelings are completely justified. Remaining patient is important because these people fresh out rehab are very susceptable to replase. This is a crucial time where family and friends must keep being supportive and remember the reason they originally intiated an alcoholism intervention.
There are other ways in which family members may feel hurt when an addict comes back into their life. Before receiving attention for their addiction, a family member probably neglected the role they played in the lives of others, either as a father, a brother, or a friend. Others in turn would have picked up the slack and filled out new roles in the family. A recovering often returns excited to be a part of the family again after realizing what they had abandoned due to addiction. While they might be ready to pick up their old roles again in family life, others in the family might not to relinquish them, having become accustomed. Patience is again a big part of the readjustment period.

Helpful ways of dealing with any negative emotions associated with a recovering addict’s return to family life include acknowledging feelings and talking about them with other family members and friends. There are also groups that help to support those people related to or who know a recovering addict. Such sources might be found from the very addiction treatment center your family member attended. Counseling, private and in groups, can always help a person work through the difficult experience of reintegrating a recovering addict back into your life.

Windsor is a well known name in England, however if using it geographically, it actually refers to three different locations. Windsor in Berkshire is the most well known and it has the distinction of housing Windsor Castle. This is the largest and probably the most famous inhabited castle in the world. The castle itself dates back to the time of William the Conqueror, which contributes to its status as the oldest continually inhabited castle. It is extremely popular with tourists, and guests staying in one of the fine Windsor hotels will certainly make a visit to the castle a top priority of their vacation.

The castle is one of the primary residents of the current Queen Elizabeth. She also resides in Buckingham Palace and the Holyrod Palace in Edinburgh Scotland. She spends many weeks out of the year in Windsor and the castle is used for official state purposes as well as private functions and parties that occur on a grand scale. The castle has seen many revisions and additions through the centuries, and most of the kings and queens of England have had a major role in its evolution. This makes the features of the castle easy to trace through a chronological comparison with the timings of the English rulers.

One of its notable uses occurred during the reign of Elizabeth the first who retreated with her court to the castle following a great outbreak of the plague in 1563. The plague was extremely common during her reign and outbreaks occurred on a regular basis. Elizabeth had a gallows erected in order to control visitors from London would likely to be bringing the plague with them. She also cut back on trade and pubic gathers to decrease the spread of this dreaded disease. Theatres were also closed down during great plague outbreaks and actors and playwrights would often have to scramble to replace the their means of income.
