Ever hear of Jungian psychology? Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist, essentially the father of analytic psychology in the last century. What might he have to do with you, especially if you’re vacationing in Houston, Texas? Since 1958, fifty-two years ago, Houston has been the home of The Jung Center , a non-profit organization that’s dedicated itself to the education of the human spirit through psychology, the humanities, and art. While taking course work at the center seems impractical for a brief visit in Houston, the center also offers lectures and art, which may capture your interest, if not your subconscious.

Carl Gustav Jung developed a theory of how the psyche works, both unconsicous and unconcious, particularly in the way that this unconsciousness presents itself in dreams; over the years, his theory of personality types has gained wide acceptance, as has his notions of universal images, known as archetypes, which he felt were dervied from deep levels in the psyche and the collective unconcious. This latter idea separates analytical psychology from other forms of psychotherapy, in an attempt to understand a person’s symptoms symbolically and placing them within the greater context of the cultural and imaginative (and collective) human psyche. For this reason, Jungian psychology embraces art, history and myth, philosophy and spirituality.

At the center, you’re invited to appreciate several upcoming art shows, such as two student art shows lasting until July 14th and August 28th, respectively; in the month of September, you’ll be able to see “An Artistic Union” with work from Judith Mroski-Gonzalez and George Gonzalez, “Testing the Waters,” by Robert Batterton in October, and “Circles of Light: Out-Scapes and In-Scapes” by Raymond Gehman in November, as well as “Imagine: Texas Doll Artists” in December.

Throughout the summer, you’ll also be able to attend various programs and lectures, such as “Celebrating Our Senses: An Evening of Meditation,” “Kundalini Yoga for Everday Life: Lessons to Create Relaxation and Vitality,” “Watercolor Revelations,” “Jung and the Restles: A Sizzling Summer Social,” and “Day of Mindfulness” — all available during the month of July in 2010.

With your mind filled with the thoughts of archetypes and the unconscious, you should be able to fall asleep that much faster in the comfort of luxury Houston hotels . You may wish to arrange for a wake-up call in the morning, in order to have a leisurely breakfast and examine your dreams.

There are over 2,000 jobs available in Singapore at this moment. And there are not enough qualified technicians from Singapore to fill those positions. The government has offered scholarships, to the tune of 5 million dollars so far for only eighteen scholarships, to the people of Singapore, and over the next few years that funding will pay off, the positions need to be filled currently. The goal is to increase the number of individual scholarships to two hundred over the next 5 years. The leading company in Green Technology, Vesta, has employed people from more that twenty different companies at the moment. The main form of alternative energy Vesta Corporation provides is wind generated energy. Solar panels will be added soon, which makes a big difference for companies, the luxury Singapore hotels, the restaurants, and the downtown sector, all have felt the impact…in a good way. Water bills and electricity bills have decreased for these companies. Providing incentive financially, what may take years and years to see visually.

The government is providing rebates and reimbursements to those choosing to go green, as far as the re-hab to buildings or the purchasing of energy efficient vehicles. This has been offered for years and will continue throughout 2011. Now incentives are being offered to international green and alternative energy and research companies with hopes of their relocating to the city of Singapore, as so many financial companies have done in the past. Chemical engineering and precise knowledge of electronics makes this a ripe ground for becoming the leading contributors and scientific research that will affect the world for many years to come. These green jobs are becoming quite attractive, and quite profitable. Through water conservation and desalination plants, solar panels, bumped up recycling programs and government incentives the people of Singapore will once again become an inspiration to those around the world. The Green Business Alliance was founded in Singapore. Protection of the environment is the goal, and with the cooperation and participation of the business joining up, this is history in the making. To make businesses and the people that support those businesses aware of the dire need for this kind of commitment is the goal, and to provide every opportunity to participate be it in the job sector or the private, will only insure to heal and protect what we all need and love, what is the only and very necessary endeavor at the present time.

After receiving a newly enlarged $150 billion rescue package on Monday, AIG was once again caught for superfluous corporate spending in the days prior to their third bailout. Similar to the shenanigans pulled at a California resort following the issuance of their second government check, AIG entertained top independent agents at the posh Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak resort in Phoenix November 5th – 7th. The conference cost over $340,000.

Although the insurence company claims that the majority of the trip was covered by “sponsors”, AIG’s biggest sponsor – the government – is less than pleased to see the drowning insurer unwilling to exercise financial restraint. Newly appointed CEO Edward Liddy has already been asked to step down by Elijah Cummings, Maryland congressman and senior member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, who says that Liddy’s careless actions have wasted taxpayer money.

AIG’s decisions leading up to the bailout and after receiving government assistance represent the moral disintegration of corporate America. It is unfortunate that we have to question the judgment and business practices of companies that once were viewed as pillars in our economy, but the meltdown on Wall Street is evidence that corruption does not make for a sturdy foundation.

As disheartening as these economic times may be, we have to move forward and learn from the mistakes made. Proper training in the corporate world is essential in order to correct the abuses that transformed U.S. business. Invesments should be made in programs that teach workplace principles to employees, bringing the focus back to individual responsibility. With the resurgence of skill and corporate training methods, ethics will be restored to the U.S. marketplace.
